This section announces achievements and events relating to our students, either in or out of the training environment.  We have many talented people from many walks of life training in our Brisbane and Sydney schools and we are proud of all their achievements. This section is dedicated to them and their moments worth sharing.  From graduations, write ups in magazines, to weddings, births, whatever! If it is happening with our students, we are interested in sharing it with everyone!

Note: Listings are in date order from most recent to first.  To have your achievement or milestone noted (even if it's not a new one!) please contact us!

Birth of a Baby Boy - (07 May 08)
Alex Mc   One of our loyal and advanced students Al, has just had a wonderful addition to his family. On Sunday 4 May, baby Alexander weighing in a 3.32kg(7.11lb), was born in just under 2hrs to Al and his wife Miyoko. Mother and child are doing fine, with dad recovering nicely from his ordeal.

We would like to congratulate Al and Miyoko, and also would like to extend our thanks to the kind police officer who let them off with a warning after pulling Al over for speeding on their way to the hospital.

We look forward to seeing you back at training soon, and also with Alexander in about 16-years.

Student Gets Deployed - (25 Mar 08)

Australian Defence Force    One of our long term students, G.H. has just been deployed with the Australian Defence Force for a 6-month tour of duty. Where he is deployed is irrelevant, but any and all overseas service with the ADF of course has its inherent risks - some places more than others.

Regardless, we are proud of G.H. and the others like him who serve our country. Your sacrifice of time and self is appreciated by many, which gives us the opportunity to live the way we do in this awesome country we call home.

Take care G.H, and see you in 6-months!

Worlds Greatest Shave Part 2 - (13 Mar 08)

For those who followed the previous posting in relation to Cherie and her participation in the "Shave for a Cure" fundraiser, we thought we'd like to include a few photo's of her going through the big chop.

Those of you who know Cherie will remember that before this event, her lovely long hair reached down to between her shoulder blades. Quite a dramatic change we must say!

Congratulations Cherie on taking part in this great event, and for having the courage to go through with it. We're always proud of what our students achieve and take part in.

Worlds Greatest Shave Fundraiser - (20 Feb 08)

Leukemia Foundation Logo    We are proud to announce that one of our long term students Cherie is taking part in this years "World's Greatest Shave". Cherie's target is to raise $1000. The event runs from 13 - 15 March 2008.

"Every hour of every day someone in Australia is diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma. The annual event is designed to raise funds for Leukemia research." (taken from the official Leukaemia Foundation website).

If you would like to support Cherie, or even make a general donation to this great cause, please follow the link to the official website (above), or directly to Cherie's official profile as registered with the Foundation.

African Choir Fundraiser - (20 Jan 08)

On 4 Oct 07 we announced one of our students Jim had fulfilled a dream by singing with an African choir for a student fundraiser. We're proud to announce that the choir is at it again! They will be African Students Choirperforming on 14 Mar 08 at Conservatorium Theatre, Queensland Conservatorium. For full details, prices, and booking, please visit the official Qtix site.

This is a fund raising event where your contributions help towards African-student fees. Due to hardship a number of students fortunate enough to make it here in the first place have been unable to complete their degree's and were sent home. This event is to help prevent this from happening to other students in the future.

Great work Jim! We look forward to seeing you up on stage on the 14th.

Pregnancy Announced - (14 Jan 08)

We have just received news that two of our students, Jenny and Neil, are expecting a baby boy! Jenny just told me that she is 18-weeks and 5-days pregnant today (but who's keeping track Smile). The due date is 9 Jun 08.

From the KMTA, our instructors, and students, we wish mother and child the best health over the next 5 months, and, of course, for dad's sanity to remain intact.

All the best! Cngratulations from all of us.

Band Listed on Triple J Unearthed - (11 Jan 08)

One of our students, Rodger, has just had his band "The Brave" listed on Triple J Unearthed! Though Rodger has been working endless hours in the studio (as has the rest of the band), he has managed to keep us updated with their progress.

The Brave

We just want to congratulate Rodger and the rest of The Brave for achieving this awesome milestone in their music career! Help launch them in to the music charts by visiting them both at Triple J Unearthed, and on their official The Brave Myspace page. Download and listen to their music. If you like it, submit reviews/ratings (good ones to Triple J, constructive ones directly to them).

Well done guys! We hope to see you up on the charts really soon (and Rodger, back to training mate!)

Birth of a Baby Girl - (05 Jan 08)

At 12:39pm (AEDST) on 05 January 2008, baby Isabel Grace was born. Her proud father is one of our original and most dedicated students in Sydney. We would just like to congratulate Bernie and Janet on the birth of their little girl. We wish you all the best with your new family, and look forward to having Isabel along to training soon (well, in about 16-years anyway).

Singing with a choir - Jim (04 Oct 07)

One of our long-standing students Jim finally realised one of his life-long dreams: to sing on stage with a choir. What better way to fulfil this dream then with an African choir raising money for African students' tuition fees in Australia!

Jim  African Choir

We are proud of Jim for two reasons:

  • he has finally gotten to fulfil a dream (not many people do)
  • Jim selflessly donated his time and energy to assist in furthering such a good cause

Krav Maga students wedding - Brooke & Craig (05 Sep 07)

We are very excited about the first wedding of Krav Maga students in Australia! Brooke and Craig have been training with us since early 2006. No, we can't take credit for introducing them as they were already a couple before coming along to classes, but we are proud no-less! The beach wedding took place in beautiful Hawaii with family and friends in attendance.

Congratulations to the beautiful bride and groom. All the best for the future, and we look forward to seeing you back at class soon (though not too soon).
