2002 - 2004 (Early Days)

In mid 2002 Tim, the (now) Director of the Krav Maga Training Academy (Brisbane and Sydney), was working in Europe on a VIP security team. While there, he was first told about Krav Maga by other team members. As is the most common response from people when they first hear those words, he replied: "What is that?"

Upon returning home he made enquiries and found out that Krav Maga training was not yet available in Australia, however that was about to change. Tim was invited to the home of Dennis and Duncan, Qld's first 2 Krav Maga Instructors, for an introductory private lesson. Quickly seeing the benefit and relevance of the system to his work, Tim signed up to the first classes held in Brisbane.

The value he saw in the system, and the passion and devotion of his instructors to the International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF) helped Tim become one of the most dedicated and advanced students. In a very short period of time, he was actively assisting in the instruction of lower levels. The passion showed by Dennis and Duncan rubbed off on him, and he started to pursue the idea of regularly teaching Krav Maga.

At the end of 2004, Tim completed the first part of his Civilian Instructors Course in Adelaide, under Eyal Yanilov, the head of the IKMF.
